There's something weird going on in Milton's culinary scene... this chef is crazy... in a good, sort-of mad-scientist kind of way. That's the essence of this charming gastropub that offers ridiculously good & creative Latin accented dishes.
Please do not forget there's also the BBQ smoker for you carnivores... and I'm a bit surprised to acknowledge that I've had some of the best and most interesting vegetarian dishes there - surprised because I don't often venture into the realm of vegetarian dishes. Their Bok Choy salad was impressive! And for dessert ... insane ice cream options like eggs and bacon last week and foie gras (with a ton of other interesting things thrown in) tonight... We had the avocado ice cream (with a bunch of crazy stuff thrown in) a while ago and it was stupefying-ly good.
We visited there after stopping at the Dogfish brewery. What an amazing place! Super friendly staff and imaginative food at reasonable prices.
The menu, while not vast, is sufficiently varied to accommodate a range of tastes (seafood, burger, BBQ, veg, etc.). The menu also changes regularly - which is terrific when you have such a wildly inventive chef; there's no chance you'll get bored with their options. This is the kind of place where it's advisable to place some faith in the chef - he really knows his stuff - and be adventurous. Don't expect to lunderstand what he's doing - just enjoy it.
We not only love the food, but we also love how much Robert and Mercedes care for the town of Milton. They support other local restaurants and vendors, and they support community events.

My husband and I counted down the days for Cantina Ultima to open it's doors a year ago. We read articles about them beforehand, and watched eagerly as their restaurant took shape. From our first experience, we fell in love with this amazing establishment. We feel welcomed by the owners, who create an inviting culinary experience for us. We are excited by the food Robert, the chef, crafts and the drinks Mercedes creates. The Cantina Ultima team adds depth to the food story of our town. We love how the menu changes, showcasing tasty gastronomic delights. We have brought in many visiting guests, who beg to come back whenever they come back to town.
We can't wait for our next dinner at Cantina, whether it be a Taco Tuesday, or a burger on Saturday night, we are always delighted by the meal and the staff.
Do yourself a favor and check this place out. It's an experience and a real treat.
Standout food in a comfortable setting. Great for tourists and locals alike. Solid cocktails and an epic offering of local and regional beers (and some dang tasty imports - Mikeller FTW).
The place is modest in size and set in a quaint small-town downtown location. They encourage you to consider making reservations; I would agree as the seating is a bit limited. Also note that the 5-10 booths are reserved for parties of 4 or more. My wife and I always sit at the bar or at one of the tables up front. I noted that some of the other reviews expressed frustration with the booth-seating restrictions, and I get that frustration. For this place, however, I also understand where the business owners are coming from; with such a limited number of seats, it's challenging during the dinner rush to give up one of your booths to a party of one - especially if there's a barstool available or coming available shortly. Anyways, please be aware that this place can get quite full, and seating could be an issue.
By far the best burger I've had in my life!! It was like an explosion of flavor for my tastebuds with each bite. So happy we tried this place, will definitely be back for their burgers and nice atmosphere!!
