Went to Milton for a birthday excursion to the Dogfish Head brewery. The Govenor's was the perfect place to stay in that it was an easy (and pleasant) walk to and from the brewery. Downtown Milton is even closer, where there are some great dinner options. Breakfast at the Govenor's was excellent: home cooked, hot and cold dishes, great coffee. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Our room had a nice mini fridge that was ideal for our "souvenirs" from Dogfish. The owners were extremely kind and helpful when it came to dinner suggestions. The house itself is a charming piece of history, and Milton is a very nice town. If you're planning on a trip to Dogfish, or even just to this part of DE (it's not too far to the beach), this should be your first choice for accommodation in terms of quality and convenience. I plan on making a return trip to Dogfish with my family, and we'll certainly be staying at The Govenor's if it's not booked up!
Beautiful restored house and Bill and Debbie are amazing
The Governors B&B was a very pleasant old house with lots of history. Bed was very comfy. Room was nice but a bit dusty. Breakfast was great. The owners were very nice. The only thing we were very disappointed about was that I had to ask for a change of clean towels and our bed was not made. At $145 a night that was a very expensive breakfast, because that's really the only service we received. It made us feel like we were staying in a boarding house...kinda like "your on your own"...here's the laundry room, it takes quarter The owners need to step it up a bit in that department.
