They used to be good but the donuts don't seem fresh anymore and they are using less toppings. Also, DO NOT use the restroom it is disgusting!
That and the dirty conditions of the seating area should have been enough for us to walk out (especially since I do hospitality/server training and those are red flags!), but we ordered three cake donuts anyway--trusting the Food Network and online customers' reviews of the place as "the best donuts ever." They were warm and well coated with toppings, but definitely were not the "best donuts" we've ever had. They had a crunchy, but greasy taste to them. All three went in the garbage after a bite of each.
Was looking forward to stopping there again in the fall when my husband and I return to the beach, but that won't be happening. Hope the owner will give the place a thorough cleaning and give the counter person a refresher course on not messing with their hair around the food, not eating at the counter, and washing their hands or wearing gloves before preparing the donuts and serving customers. Until then, visitors beware.
Are we talking about the donut place in Milton, if so I bought one and it wasn't good, just a cake donut with sprinkles, one bite and it went in the trash.
Amazing donuts and even better service! My husband drove out to get me a Valentine's day surprise and mentioned to the owner how we had driven out before only to find them closed (google had the incorrect times posted) the owner remembered since I had messaged on Facebook and gave him some free donuts! Plus we had never been before and had wanted to try the infamous Boston cream which was sold out so he made a couple of fresh ones for us as well! I was so happy when my husband showed up with all of those treats! It is definitely worth the drive out! Just make sure you check Facebook for the most accurate open and closed information!
What a disappointment! Saw that it was visited by the Food Network and love to support recommended local places when possible. Was passing by this place on the way to the beach yesterday around noon. Was looking forward to trying their famous Boston Cream donut only to learn that it and other yeast donuts are only made on the weekend. As the counter person was explaining that, she abruptly removed her hair tie, flipped her hair upside down and then gathered it in her hands and re-tied her ponytail and fluffed it into a loose bun on top of her head. She didn't bother to wash her hands before she continued to help customers.
The donuts are fresh and delicious and Doug, the owner, gives back to the community often with donations and fundraisers. Gooey donuts is a great business to support!
Before leaving, we decided to use the ladies restroom. Another mistake--the sink, mirror and toilet hadn't been cleaned for days. No excuse for that for any business that provides a restroom for customers and especially one that provides food.
